Hey there! It’s me, Heidi.
Welcome to Wandering Thespian, I’m glad to have you here. This blog has been something that I’ve wanted to do for a while, and didn’t know how to make it a reality until recently. And, thank goodness I figured it out, because I LOVE to write. I love it so much. I love sharing thoughts, ideas, and experiences with other people, and as an introvert a blog is the perfect way to do that.
I have lived in the New Orleans area my entire life, and I honestly can’t imagine growing up and living any other way. My writing “career” started when I was a kid as the result of an editorial I submitted to the Times Picayune about a Mardi Gras mishap (which you can read about in my very first blog post), and I haven’t stopped writing since.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education: English Language Arts and Speech Communication from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (go Cajuns!), and a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication from Southeastern Louisiana University (Lion up!). I’ve had all sorts of jobs from customer service at a pharmacy, to a university academic advisor, to a high school theatre teacher. Now, I’m an Independent Consultant with Arbonne International, blogger, and a travel planner specializing in New York City and other areas that are saturated with the performing arts. I also write for BroadwayWorld.com, reviewing shows and interviewing cast members in touring productions around the New Orleans area.
You’ll quickly learn if you become a regular reader that I love all things musical theatre, travel, books, movies, music, food, etc. But mostly musical theatre and travel. I hope this blog can not only be a creative outlet for me, but a place where we can all be inspired together and share in this life’s journey.
